Intelligent Decline, Revisited
A reply to Robert McHenry, Former Editor in Chief of the Encyclopaedia Britannica

"All truth passes through three stages," Arthur Schopenhauer declared. "First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident."
As a proponent of the Intelligent Design (ID) theory, nowadays I am witnessing the first two stages simultaneously. And most recently I owe this to, among many others, Mr. Robert McHenry, who waged a powerful attack on ID and ID theorists in his recent TCS piece, Intelligent Decline.

Akyol Speaks At The American Jewish Committee Meeting
Mustafa Akyol was one of speakers at the 2005 Annual Meeting of the American Jewish Committee, which was held in Washington DC, between May 2-6, 2005. Speakers of the meeting included President Bill Clinton, Mithal Jamal Hussein Al-Alusi (Founder of the Democratic Party of the Iraqi Nation), Ambassador Dennis Ross, Cardinal Theodore E. McCarrick (Archbishop of Washington) and James Woolsey (former director of the CIA).

Akyol's Testimony to the Kansas State Education Board
Mustafa Akyol gave a testimony to the Kansas State Education Board during the hearings on proposed changes to the State's science standards, which was held in Topeka, Kansas, on May 5-7, 2005.
His testimony pointed to the importance of an objective and unbiased education from a Muslim point of view. It is materialism, Akyol says, that put distrust among Muslim towards the Western culture and getting rid of materialist indoctrination in the education system will be an important step in reconciliating the gap between the West and the East.

Bolshevism in a Headdress
Islamic fundamentalism has more to do with the hatred of the West than with faith

In October of 2002 I spoke to a crowded Muslim audience in the British city of Birmingham on the topic, "The Evidence for God." My lecture focused on the modern scientific discoveries that support the idea of a designed, "fine-tuned" universe. The audience consisted mostly of Muslim students, and they were very interested in the presentation.
Yet there was a small dissatisfied group in the hall. During the question-and-answer session, one who seemed to be a spokesman for the group rose and, in a passionate voice, objected to the whole idea of the conference. "Why are we wasting time with all this useless philosophical and scientific sophistry?" he demanded. "Shouldn't we concentrate on establishing the worldwide Islamic state that will save us from all evils?
